Karl Hans Dieter von Basse (16 June 1916 – 16 April 1945) was a highly decorated Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Hans-Dieter von Basse was killed on 16 April 1945 in Godnicken, East Prussia. He was posthumously promoted to Oberstleutnant
