Hamiltonella defensa is a species of bacteria, that lives as a endosymbiont of aphids. It shows a relationship with Photorhabdus species, together with Regiella insecticola. Together with other endosymbionts, it provides aphids protection against parasitoids. It is known to habitate Bemisia tabaci.
