Hamilton House is a historic house in the village of Preston in East Lothian, Scotland, UK. It is situated very close to its neighbouring communities of Prestonpans and Prestongrange.

History

The house was built in 1626 by Sir John Hamilton who was the brother of Thomas Hamilton, 1st Earl of Haddington.

Recent history

Hamilton House was acquired by, and is in the care of, the National Trust for Scotland.

The building was restored by Sir Robert Hurd in 1937.

Neighbouring houses

Very close by are the Preston Tower (which was owned by the Hamiltons), Northfield House, Preston Lodge, and, a little further away, the former baronial Prestongrange House, now in the hands of Royal Musselburgh Golf Club.
