The Hall of Fame Players Association, and Hall of Fame Charities Foundation are associations and companies held, owned and operated by members of professional sports halls of fame and were formed in 1999. It purports to be an alliance formed to unite elite sports personalities toward the sixfold purposes outlined below:
The Hall of Fame Players Association currently has an acting executive committee of 11 members. These executive committee members are charged with the daily operations of the Association. Although many other private individuals and/or commercial entities have attempted to own, administrate and buy or otherwise take over the HOFPA, it remains a solely held and owned entity of members only. It is the desire of the HOFPA to form independent partnerships with event, marketing, ebusiness, and charity and representation firms to accomplish the purposes outlined above.
The association claims distinct advantages that set the Association apart from many others is the key strategy of the ability to leverage the combined assets of highly visible sports personalities with leading and independent contract partners, on-line technology, educational institutions, corporate entities, special and charitable events and fund raisers for the mutual benefit of all.
