HMS Coromandel was a wooden paddle dispatch vessel of the Royal Navy. The ship was called Tartar before its purchase by the Navy in 1855, and was sold out of service in 1866. She served in the Arrow War (1856–1860) in China, firing the first shot of the war on 23 October 1856 during the capture of Canton. She later served in the Battle of Fatshan Creek (1857), and the First and Third Battles of the Taku Forts in 1858 and 1860.
