HD 171301 and BD+30°3223B are two components of a binary star system in the constellation Lyra, approximately 370 light years away from Earth. The brighter of the pair, 5th magnitude HD 171301, is a subgiant star with the spectral type B8IV. It therefore possesses a surface temperature of 11,000 to 25,000 kelvins and is brighter, larger, and at least twice as hot as our Sun. Its companion, BD+30°3223B, is a 13th magnitude star of an unknown spectral type.
