The Höganäs Formation is a Mesozoic geologic formation in Skåne, Sweden. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation, although none have yet been referred to a specific genus.
Discoveries
There are discoveries of fossilized footprints assigned to Dilophosaurus and Plateosaurus in the Höganäs Formation. Other tracks discovered in the Höganäs Formation have been assigned to the ichnogenus Grallator (Eubrontes) cf. giganteus, which were discovered in Rhaetian strata, and Grallator (Eubrontes) soltykovensis, which were discovered in Hettangian strata. A few of the tracks were taken to museums, but most of them disappeared in natural floodings. In 1994, Gierlinski and Ahlberg assigned these tracks from the Hoganas Formation of Sweden to Dilophosaurus as well.
