Aliya Mustafina from Russia won the gold medal. He Kexin from China won silver and Great Britain' Elizabeth Tweddle took the bronze.

Format competition

The top eight qualifiers in the qualification phase (limit two per NOC) advanced to the apparatus final. Qualification scores were then ignored, with only final round scores counting.

Qualification

* Huang Qiushuang (CHN) ranked 7th, but did not qualify due to the 'two per country' rule as two of her teammates qualified ahead of her.

* Jordyn Wieber (USA) did not qualify as the 3rd reserve due to her teammates Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross gaining higher scores in the preliminary round.
