Grupo de Diarios América

The Grupo de Diarios América (Spanish: America Group of Daily Newspapers) is a joint-venture by 11 major newspapers in Latin America, including Brazil. GDA was founded in 1991 by O Globo (Brazil), La Nación (Argentina), El Mercurio (Chile), El Tiempo (Colombia), La Nación (Costa Rica), El Comercio (Ecuador), El Universal (México), El Comercio (Peru), El Nuevo Día (Puerto Rico), El País (Uruguay), and El Nacional (Venezuela), including these newspapers and their magazines (totalling over 150 print media outlets). GDA only accepts one member in each country. It is a cooperation scheme in the same ways as the Periódicos Asociados Latinoamericanos, a competitor group. Many of the newspapers in GDA were also formerly part of LATIN. Brazilian newspaper Zero Hora (and its parent company, RBS) was originally also part of GDA.
