Early life and career

The son of a comedian, Greg Scott worked as a Redcoat at Butlins and then as a warm-up artist on the Channel 4 programme Countdown for 13 years.

Between June 1998 and June 2001, Greg was the host of 'Greg Scott's Best Breakfast' on Scarborough-based commercial radio station Yorkshire Coast Radio, having earlier presented the evening show on the station. During this phase of his career he also made occasional appearances on York-based sister station, Minster FM, both as a presenter and as a TV industry gossip correspondent on the Saturday evening show.

In 2003 he became a presenter on price-drop tv. After almost two years with the channel, in July 2005 he announced that he was leaving; his last appearance on price-drop tv live being on 28 July 2005.

In August 2005, he made an appearance as himself in a sketch on the Channel 4 comedy series A Bear's Tail, which was a spin-off from Avid Merrion's Bo' Selecta! series. In this sketch he plays himself as a host on price-drop tv selling products such as Craig David's shoe and a cubic zirconia medallion. The actual Price Drop studio was used for this sketch.

Then he became a senior host on Quizmania on ITV Play which was also for a time broadcast on ITV.

Following the axing of Quizmania he went on to become a presenter on Play DJ, another ITV Play show, and also for a brief period appeared on the satellite and digital shopping TV channel iBuy. ITV announced that it had axed its ITV Play channel on 13 March 2007 and most of its participation tv shows, including Play DJ.

In July 2007 Scott joined PlayMonday and Big Box Bingo. PlayMonday finished its run in November 2008, Big Box Bingo in March 2009.

In April 2011 he returned to York's Minster FM.

On 8 July 2011, he appeared as a contestant on Countdown. He lost 89 - 57 against a mathematics lecturer.

In August 2013 he left Minster FM's Weekend Breakfast Show; and began working as a voiceover artist and question writer for ITV's "All-Star Family Fortunes". Greg had a couple of lengthy periods of working back at Minster FM at weekends over the years since 2013 until February 2017 when he announced he would be leaving the radio station. His last show for Minster broadcast on 19 February 2017.

He is still doing voiceover work and currently works at Coast and County Radio in Scarborough on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm.

Keen on social media, he sometimes uses the Periscope app during his radio show so people can interact with him whilst a song is playing on air. Greg also operates a Facebook page named 'The Greg Scott Live Page' where he periodically streams live for around an hour, interacting with viewers. In addition to these, Greg can also be found on Twitter as @GregScottTV and YouTube as greggles2412.

Personal life

Greg lives in Scarborough and has been married since 1996 to Karen, with whom he has two daughters and owns a dog called Mollie. He is the son-in-law of boxer Richard Dunn, who fought Muhammad Ali for the world heavyweight title in 1976.
