The Great Seal of Quebec is a seal used to authenticate documents issued by the government of Quebec that are released in the name of the Queen in Right of Quebec, including the appointment of the Executive Council and Minister (the Cabinet) as well as justices of the peace and judges of provincial courts.

Design

The seal is a blue with a large Fleur-de-lis in the centre surrounded by a ring of smaller fleur-de-lis. The words Grand Sceau du Quebec are found with the seal. It, in 1979, replaced an earlier version. The old Great Seal had the shield of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom with a Tudor Crown above and the shield of the province below. The words The Seal of the Province of Quebec were in English only.
