The Great Midwest Hockey League (GMHL) is an ACHA Division 2 club ice hockey league consisting of 8 teams in the Great Lakes region of the United States. The league is one of the top ACHA Division 2 leagues and the level of the GMHL teams is close to ACHA D1 and NCAA Division III levels. Michigan State University is the 2009-2010 GMHL Champions. Davenport is the 2009-2010 ACHA D2 National Champions. Davenport will be leaving the GMHL following the 2009-2010 season to move up to Division 1 of the ACHA, a team to replace them in the GMHL has yet to be announced.

Former teams

  • Davenport University - left after the 2009-10 season as part of the team's transition to ACHA Division 1 and the new Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League for the 2010-11 season.
  • Indiana University - left after the 2008-09 season as part of the team's transition to ACHA Division 1, joined the Central States Collegiate Hockey League for the 2010-11 season.
  • Oakland University - An original member of the GMHL, Oakland University left after the 2005-06 season as the team transitioned to ACHA Division 1.
