Granby Street (part of which runs as U.S. Route 460 north of downtown, the Neon District, and East Ghent) is a major street in Norfolk, Virginia. The street is the historic commercial corridor of Norfolk, and also the community heart of the city. It has been undergoing major redevelopment for the past five years. Today, theatres, restaurants, and businesses line Granby Street in the downtown area. The street spans from its historic downtown at Main Street along the Elizabeth River north to the Chesapeake Bay where it ends at the Ocean View neighborhood at U.S. Route 60. Notorious in the 1970s for its drug usage and prostitution, Granby Street has since become a popular nighttime destination.
