Goshen is the ongoing musical project of artist/musician Grant Hayunga. Founded in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1994. The band is currently signed to Frogville Records.
History and discography
Goshen (self titled), was released in 1994 and featured Grant Hayunga (guitar and vocals), Aimee Curl (bass and vocals), David Tiller (mandolin), Matthew Vaughn (violin) and William Bartley (drums).
Goshen's singer/songwriter/guitarist is Grant Hayunga who resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico with his actress/singer/model girlfriend, Elizabeth DeCicco and his two children. Grant is also a renowned painter who was represented by Linda Durham Contemporary Art for many years. In 2009, Hayunga decided to split with the gallery so he could be a free agent.
Goshen recorded Trixie at The Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma with producer Steve Ripley of The Tractors and Tony Garnier, Bob Dylan.
From Bedlam To Ballyhoo was executive produced by Val Kilmer.
Lioness and Circus Wife were produced and recorded with brothers Bill and Jim Palmer of Hundred Year Flood at Frogville Records in Santa Fe, NM.
Goshen played the North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Picnic in 2007 and was invited back for 2008.
Goshen released their latest album in 2009. The Como Sessions: Volume 1 was produced by James "Jimbo" Mathus of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Buddy Guy and Knockdown South. This album was recorded at Delta Recording Service in Como, Mississippi on 11-11-2008. With the exception of Elizabeth DeCicco on vocals, Hayunga used musicians from The Hill Country including Jimbo Mathus (guitar, piano, Wurlitzer organ, mandolin, drums, percussion and vocals), Corey Jenkins (drums), Justin Showah (engineer and bass) of Afrissippi and Chad Smith (Wurlitzer organ). While recording the album, the musicians stayed at Tallulah Bankhead's old Victorian home now owned by artist Sharon McConnell. When the band traveled overnight from a show in Ocean Springs to perform at The North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic in Potts Camp, a coyote ran in front of the band's van and was hit. The cover of The Como Sessions: Volume 1 is an ode to the coyote.
