History

After the breakup of Kelly's previous band, The Red Sun Band, Kelly continued to write music, and approached Sydney indie label Rice is Nice about recording and releasing a new album. The label recommended working with Myles Heskett, who in turn recommended Chris Ross. (Since departing from Wolfmother, Heskett and Ross had recorded as The Slew with Kid Koala, but were between projects at the time). Their first single, It’s Not Easy Being Mean, was released in July, 2012, a year after the band was formed, and their first album, Strange Dreams, came out in August that year.
