The Golden Cross mine was a gold and silver mine in the Waitekauri Valley near Waihi at the base of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. It first operated as an underground gold mine from 1895 to 1920. Then gold and silver were mined by underground and open pit methods from 1991 to 1998.

There was a fire in Newmont Waihi Gold's Trio underground mine at about 5am July 17, 2012, leaving 28 miners trapped. All the miner's were evacuated alive.
