Giuseppe Crotto (Spanish José Crotto) (1830-1903) was an Italian merchant and landowner, settler in the city of Dolores, Buenos Aires.

Biography

Giuseppe was born in Piscina, Piedmont son of Francesco Crotto and Anna Guglielmone. In late 1840, Crotto was enlisted in the army of Piedmont, participating in the Crimean War. After arriving at the port of Buenos Aires, it is established in the fields of the Province of Buenos Aires, taking up residence in the city of Dolores. Crotto was owner of the ranches "La Italia", "La France", "La Maruja", "Los Flamencos and "María Luisa".

José Crotto was married to Valeria Villas, born in Béarn, France. They were parents of several children, including José Camilo Crotto, senator, and governor of Buenos Aires Province.
