Form of weight training with the sole purpose of adding muscular mass to the body. Made popular by Charles Poliquin, this form of weightlifting typically consists of 10 sets of 10 reps of compound movements, followed by 10 sets of 10 reps of the antagonist exercise. The weight used for each compound exercise is 60% of the individuals one rep max capacity.
Unlike most lifting programs that work on 7 day cycles, German Volume Training (GVT) utilizes a 5-day cycle. Meaning every 6th day you repeat your first lift.
