The German School Washington D.C. (German: Deutsche Schule Washington, D.C.) The German School Washington D.C. is a private, co-educational school which provides students with an international perspective by combining both U.S. and German academic education. The school teaches students from over 20 different countries side by side and gives them the opportunity to earn a High School Diploma and the German International Abitur. For children age 2 through 12th grade. Knowledge of German is not required for admission to pre-K and Kindergarten programs.

The school was founded on September 11, 1961 with only 33 students. Its original purpose was to deliver a German education to the children of diplomats in the Washington D.C. area, though as it has grown over the years it has taken on a larger number of non-diplomat students. The school is partially supported by the German government.

The German School Washington, D.C. is a bilingual school using German and English. The school offers a challenging college preparatory program, including AP courses.

The school was previously in McLean, Virginia.
