George Seefurth Elrick (October 7, 1921 – December 29, 1997)
George was raised in Evanston, IL, resided in Glenview,IL , and later moved to Mount Prospect, IL. He was married to Marilyn Wharton on January 11, 1947, and had 2 children; Michael and Bruce, and 4 grandchildren.
He attended Northwestern University from 1939 to 1943, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English. Soon after, during WWII, he entered the US Army, and wrote articles for "Stars and Stripes" a war time newspaper. In the mid 50's, he was employed by the Jacoby Advertising Agency as a Writer. In the 60's, he was employed by Wilding Studios, and wrote television scrips for the Wild Kingdom series. In the mid 60's, he wrote storybooks and maps for the "General Whitman's Adventure" series. He was also the author of dozens of children's books from the Whitman "Big Little Books" series from the mid 60's until the early 80's. Towards the end of his career he even wrote a science fiction handbook that was a tutorial used in some college courses. Throughout his career he wrote an astonishing 38 Books! George's favorite book that he personally published was "Bonanza - The Bubble Gum Kid".
