Erath mourns the loss of mayor george dupuis

George Dupuis (1757 – 5 March 1839) was an English cricketer active in the early 1780s and 1790s, making four appearances in first-class cricket. Dupuis' batting and bowling styles are unknown.

Dupuis made his debut in first-class cricket for Hornchurch against a combined White Conduit Club and Moulsey Hurst team in 1787 at Moulsey Hurst. He played a further first-class match for an Old Etonians cricket team in 1791 (having been educated at Eton College in his youth) against the Gentlemen of England at Lord's Old Ground. He played a further first-class match at the venue in that year, playing for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against the Gentlemen of Kent, while the following year he made a fourth and final appearance in first-class cricket, playing for the MCC against Berkshire. Dupuis scored 64 runs in his four matches, averaging 10.66 and with a highest score of 28. He also took six wickets, though due to incomplete scorecard records, his bowling average and exact best bowling figures are unknown.
