George Chigas is an American writer and scholar. He is currently a professor in the cultural studies department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He was the Associate Director of the Cambodian Genocide Program at Yale University from 1998-2001. He completed an English translation of the Cambodian verse novel The Story of Tum Teav, and is co-author with Susan Cook of "Putting the Khmer Rouge on Trial", which appeared in the Bangkok Post on October 31, 1999.

Chigas has spoken out as a political commentator on the crimes of the Khmer Rouge that took place in Cambodia during the 1970s.
