George C. Mathews

George C. Mathews was an American economist who served as a member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under Franklin Delano Roosevelt from 1934 to 1940.

A liberal Republican from Wisconsin, Mathews served on the Wisconsin Public Utilities Commission before being appointed by Roosevelt to the Federal Trade Commission on October 27, 1933. He was appointed to the SEC on June 30, 1934.
