Gelechia scotinella, the thicket groundling, is a moth of the Gelechiidae family. It was described by Herrich-Schäffer in 1854. It is found in almost all of Europe. The habitat consists of mature hedgerows and scrubland.

The wingspan is 11–14 mm. Adults have been recorded on wing from June to September.

The larvae feed on Prunus spinosa. They feed within the stems and flowers of their host plant.
