Gaute Godager (born 1970) is a Norwegian video game director who created Funcom with Erik Gloersen, Ian Neil, Andre Backen, and Olav Morkrid in 1993, and worked for the company for 16 years. He has directed the massively multiplayer online role-playing game titles Anarchy Online and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. He created his first game when he was 17 years old. His first encounter with the gaming industry came by creating a game for Amiga, but it was never published. When working on that game, he met the people who created Funcom. While working on Anarchy Online and some other games, he studied psychology. He left Funcom on September 17, 2008, while working on Age of Conan, stating that there were elements of the game he was dissatisfied with. He was replaced by Craig Morrison.
