Gaston Briart was a Belgian geologist and mining engineer who worked and studied rock formations at Prince LĂ©opold mine, Kipushi, Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The mineral Briartite, discovered in Kipushi in 1965, is named in his honour.
