GSTI Software Index stands for Goldman Sachs Technology Index (GSTI) Software Index. It was a stock market index made of 46 software companies whose shares are publicly traded. They produce commercial software. Of them, only Red Hat produces free software. This index included companies making operating systems (Microsoft, Red Hat), database software (Oracle Corporation, PeopleSoft, Sybase), video games (Electronic Arts), electronic design automation software (Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys), and so on.

As of June 5, 2010 the index is no longer listed or traded. See the External Links section for a notice on the Chicago Board Options Exchange that it is delisted.
