Product description

The dessert is a type of frozen dairy dessert. It was only available as chocolate until vanilla was introduced in 2006 after repeated requests by consumers. Although the Wendy's on Central Ave in Yonkers has had the Vanilla Frosty since 1993.

History

The Frosty was invented by Borden's dairyman John Bowers at the request of Wendy's owner, Dave Thomas. When the first Wendy's opened in 1969, chocolate, which is actually a combination of chocolate and vanilla (swirl), was the only flavor offered. Dave Thomas thought that 100 percent chocolate would be too overpowering a flavor when paired with a Wendy's burger and fries meal. A second flavor, vanilla, was introduced in 2006.
