Freedom High School, also known as Freedom-South Riding, is a public secondary school located in the Washington, D.C. suburb South Riding, an unincorporated community in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. Campus is 25 miles west of Washington, D.C. and located off of U.S. Route 50 just over the Fairfax County border. The school serves all subdivisions in South Riding, The Retreat at South Village, Ridings at Blue Spring, Cedar Hunt and Cedar Crest. It is part of Loudoun County Public Schools and is on 25450 Riding Center Drive, South Riding, VA 20152.

Another Freedom High School is located in adjoining Prince William County which shares the same mascot and colors. To avoid confusion with Freedom High of Woodbridge (Prince William County), rumors were that the school would be known as the John S. Mosby High School Grey Ghosts after the name of nearby U.S. Route 50 and commander in the American Civil War. There was also serious consideration of changing the nickname/mascot to the Flyers because of nearby Washington Dulles International Airport. It is unknown if the name of the school will be changed in the future.
The school opened on August 29, 2005, with its student body drawing from Broad Run High School, Loudoun County High School, and a small portion of Stone Bridge High School.
Demographics
In 2010-2011, Freedom's student body was 52% White; 15% Black; 23% Asian; 10% Hispanic. Freedom High school's current student body is 52% White; 7% Black; 27% Asian; 9% Hispanic; 5% Multi-Racial.
Athletics
Freedom High School's mascot is an eagle and is a member of the AAA Cedar Run District and AAA Northwest Region. All home games for outdoor sports are played on campus at Eric J. Olsen Memorial Stadium. The football team played a junior varsity schedule instead of an independent varsity schedule, like Heritage and Stone Bridge in their first year. Freedom played in the Dulles District as a full football member in 2007. On March 14, 2009, Freedom's Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated Robert E. Lee High School of Staunton at VCU in the State Championships, becoming the first school in the county to win a state championship in basketball. On March 13, 2010, Freedom's Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated Spotswood High School at the Richmond Siegel Center in the State Championships. Freedom has also had recent success with their wrestling program, winning back to back AA Dulles District titles in the 09-10 and 10-11 school year. The school's tennis team won back-to-back district championships in the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons.
Fine arts
Freedom's fine arts program is growing rapidly in popularity. The Director of Drama is Jon Mark Rogers, who has won numerous awards throughout the state during his accomplished career as an educator and actor. Under Mr. Rogers direction the Drama Department has won multiple awards throughout the state and was most recently a finalist in the AAA VHSL State Theatre Championship.
The drama department received much praise in 2011 for their "outstanding" production (newspaper review)of "Les Miserables" and followed that success with an even more "impressive" (newspaper review) production of "Phantom of the Opera" in 2012. The coming year will bring more performances at state festivals including the Virginia Theatre Association and Virginia High School League festivals.

FREEDOM CHORUS Freedom Chorus is currently directed by Mrs. Laura Lazarevich.
Freedom High School also has a band, directed by Joel Galway, and orchestra, directed by Jeanne Nelson. Each group performs three times a year. Freedom did not have a marching band in its first year, however one was organized for the 2006-2007 school year. In its short history, the band program also organized a successful winter drumline and color guard.

Overcrowding
Before the 2011-2012 school year the decision was made to hold part of the freshman classes at the then nearby middle school feeder, Mercer Middle School. The enrollment at Freedom had risen to over 2,000 students (note: the building capacity is 1,600). Because of the new middle school opening of J. Michael Lunsford this was possible. Since then, John Champe High School has opened to alleviate the overcrowding. Prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year, the school was expanded by nearly 13,000 square feet.
