Fred Schorning is a former provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as leader of the provincially registered Alberta Party from 1999 until 2001.

Political career

Schorning was leader of the Alberta Party until 2001. He led his party to form a temporary coalition with James Albers and the Social Credit party in the 2001 Alberta general election. The coalition proposed that the party share volunteers and resources and run all candidates under the Social Credit banner. The election was a failure and Schorning stepped down and was replaced by George Flake as leader of the party. Schorning has continued on in the Alberta party executive holding the secretary position for a number of years and most recently becoming the Chief Financial Officer.
