Franz van Stampart (born in Antwerp 12 June 1675 – died 3 April 1750 in Vienna) was a painter of Flemish origin, whose career was spanned throughout Europe, working for the Courts of Emperor Charles VI and Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor and then working in the studio of Godfrey Kneller in England.

Life

Franz van Stampart was the pupil of John van Sypen who was the painter who had documented Wemyss Castle in Fife, Scotland. His career was mainly as a portrait painter and many works of his can be found in Museums in Brussels, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Orleans, Musee des Beaux-Arts.
