Frank Scobbo is a retired Police Commissioner from Port Washington, New York. He is the only nine-term Police Commissioner in the eighty-seven-year history of the Port Washington Police District. He started his service on January 1, 1969 and stepped down on December 31, 1995.
Career
During his years in office, Commissioner Scobbo authorized many changes in the district's procedures and in personnel deployment. These include:
These are only a few of Commissioner Scobbo's accomplishments. During his terms in office he extensively traveled across the United States attending workshops and creating a communicative web with other agencies to help ensure that the Police District would keep up with the latest ideas in police procedures, tactics and training.
This dedication to his office and his responsibilities helped create high morale among all Police District employees and served to make the Port Washington Police District among the best and most capable police agencies in New York State.
As such, the accomplishment that Commissioner Scobbo is most proud of is that he was voted the Port Washington P.B.A "Man of the Year" in 1983.
