Frank Dixon (born 06/02/1999) is a young Australian singer/songwriter and actor. He is known for writing his own music and lyrics to songs he performs. [1] He began writing music at the age of 9 and has recently achieved success through his singles, "Toorak Girl", Step into the Dark "Dream Brigade" and more recently "Gold" which features Australian rapper Kelebek. Over the last year Frank has worked on co-producing his own debut album due out in 2014/2015.

Frank is coached and mentored by David Jaanz from the (Jaanz School of Singing) since 2010. David first noticed him when he was awarded the Junior Singer/Songwriter Consultation Prize at “Dream Inc” in Melbourne. In 2011, he was scouted on YouTube by Frank Castle, a Canadian talent scout and producer as well as Manager Michael Gerdsmeier [2] He performs regularly in Melbourne and in 2013 was chosen to be the support act for UK Boyband Five (band) at the Palace Theatre, Melbourne. In addition to his musical skills, Frank is also an actor and has appeared in many high and low budget productions including “Waiting for Godot” (with Sir Ian McKellen – “Lord of the Rings”). Frank is the youngest person in Australia officially endorsed by Yamaha Music Australia

Early life

Frank Dixon was born on the 2nd February 1999 and from the early age of 9 began singing and writing his own music. When he was 11 years old he recorded two songs Up and Away and Moving On. In 2010 Frank was awarded the junior singer/songwriter prize at Dream Inc and it was at this competition that he was first noticed by David Jaanz (Jaanz School of Singing) – who remains Frank’s vocal coach and mentor. David is one of Australia's top vocal coaches and Frank is coached vocally twice a week. In 2011 Frank was scouted on YouTube by a Canadian talent scout and producer

2013-Present

Frank is the MC and mentor of the Fast Track Singing Showcases competition and has hosted and performed at over 35 events in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Frank has recently been promoted to 2nd Trombone in the Scotch College Show Band which is the highest level band in the school. He also performs with the Jazz ensemble on Trombone and toured with Generations of Jazz in Mount Gambier with James Morrison in 2013. Frank has had three of his singles (Toorak Girl, Step into the Dark and Dream Brigade) released to radio nationally and has received significant commercial radio and in store media play.

Frank's single Toorak Girl is currently on the playlist in Bunnings, Smiggle, Target, McDonalds, numerous food outlets and even Malaysian Airlines. Frank has toured regional commercial radio stations and has done in excess of 70 radio interviews both nationally and internationally. He has participated in television and singing appearances on Kids Warner Brothers (WB), Studio 3 ABC3, Toasted TV and Sunday Night. Frank also co-hosts a radio programme on 94.1fm called Music Matters which is aired around Melbourne and internationally once a month and podcast/rebroadcast nationally and internationally. Frank and his co-host Miani Rose were recently nominated for Best New Music Programme at the Community Broadcasting Awards Australia (CBAA). He has also performed at the Teenage Expo and numerous community and charity events across Victoria

Frank has recently moved schools from Scotch College, Melbourne and is now attending Eltham College (Victoria)

Frank is now travelling between Melbourne and Los Angeles recording his music with Grammy Award winning producers First Born, Devine Evans and Grammy nominated producer Dre Knight in addition to Australian producers Lee Bradshaw and Jennifer Matthews from Bignote Productions

Acting

Frank's acting agent is Triple Talent Management. He has appeared in a number of stage, film and television appearances.

  • "Wizard of Oz" - Park Players (Role of Munchkin)
  • 7 Short Films including "Roundabouts", "An Illness at the House" and "The Brotherhood".

  • Winner of the 2012 Australian Songwriter of the Year Award (Australian Songwriting Association). Youngest winner ever and the first boy in 11 years to win the award.
