François Diday (1802–1877), a Swiss landscape painter, was born at Geneva. He studied in Paris and travelled in Italy, but chiefly lived in his native country. He, however, frequently exhibited in the Paris Salon, where he obtained medals in 1840 and 1841. He died in 1877, at Geneva, to which city he bequeathed his property, valued at 400,000 francs.
