Forest Invasive Species (FIS)

Organisms that are non native or exotic to one area, which is outside their natural existence range.

Invasive species can be any microorganisms, plant species, animal species or fungus . These invasive species have a dangerous tendency to spread into a large area, utilizing the resources present there. The Invasive Species which affects the forest ecosystems are generally termed as Forest Invasive Species(FIS).Forest environments are formed and existed by the balancing act of many biotic factors and abiotic factors. These Forest Invasive Species cause deleterious effects to biodiversity and economy by altering the balance between the biotic and abiotic factor .

There are many FIS are present. Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata, Parthenium hysterophorus, Mikania micrantha, Mucuna bracteata, Senna spectabilis are some examples of Forest Invasive Species.
