Fjelberg Church (Norwegian: Fjelberg kyrkje) is a parish church in Kvinnherad municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. It is located on the small island of Fjelbergøya. The church is part of the Eid og Fjelberg parish in the Sunnhordland deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.
History
There has been a church on Fjelbergøya since the middle ages. That church was a stave church and it was torn down in 1722 and replaced by a timber-framed church. This white, wooden church was built to seat about 160 people. There was discussion in 1862 of replacing the church, but instead it was decided to simply refurbish the old church. Another renovation was completed in 1939.
