Fiona Balfour is an Australian businesswoman. She was born in Melbourne in 1958 and attended Presbyterian Ladies' College, Melbourne from 1970 - 1975. Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Monash University (1979), a Graduate Diploma in Information Management from University of NSW (1981) and an MBA from the University of RMIT (1988). Fiona's career has been in the information technology industry working in enterprise technology across Australian Aviation, Information and Telecommunication Services, Financial Services, Distribution and Logistics, Education sector, Marketing and Commercial systems and not-for-profits for over 35 years. She is currently an independent non-executive director for Metcash Limited (ASX:MTS), Salmat Limited (ASX:SLM), TAL (Dai-ichi Life) Australia, Airservices Australia and is a Council Member and Treasurer of Knox Grammar School, Wahroonga.

Balfour has received numerous honours for her work, such as the Award for Excellence in Management from the Australian Telecommunications Users Group in 2003, the National Pearcey Medal in 2006. She was appointed a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2009 and a Fellow of Monash University in 2010.

Fiona is a former non-executive director of Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques, (SITA SC) – based in Geneva, Switzerland from 2001–06; former member of the Global IBM Advisory Board (2003–05); former Trustee of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (2007–10); former Councillor of Chief Executive Women (2006 -09 & 2012-13)and the former Chair of the St James’ King Street Conservation Appeal (2011–14). She was the Chief Information Officer and a Member of the Executive Committee for The Qantas Group from 2001 – 2006 - having been a senior executive at the airline since the late 1980s - and was responsible for information technology, procurement, property and human resource services globally during this period and then was appointed the Chief Information Officer for Telstra from 2006 -07. In recent years, Fiona has provided consulting and advisory services to a wide range of clients including Medibank Private, Link Market Services, the University of NSW, Sydney University and Blackmore's.

Balfour currently lives with her family in Sydney's North Shore.
