The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is the lead agency for film in the Philippines ensuring that the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film are effectively represented in the country and abroad. This agency is under the Office of the President.

In 2015, the FDCP main office relocated from Makati to the former site of Instituto Cervantes de Manila, in TM Kalaw, Manila, which will be the temporary home of the group before it will moved in a new and permanent home in Tagaytay, which is under construction.

History

The Film Development Council of the Philippines agency is created through the Republic Act No. 9167 with the mandate of first, formulating and implementing policies and programs to upgrade the craft of film making. Second, encourage the production of films for commercial purposes intended for public entertainment that seek to enhance the quality of life, examine the human and social condition and contribute to the nobility and dignity of the human spirit and lastly, maximize the country's comparative advantage as a location site for international movie and television making to generate income, promote tourism and enhance the image of the country abroad.
