Fergal O'Byrne is a Dublin-born writer and entrepreneur, now living in Wexford. He studied Electronic Engineering in Dublin Institute of Technology and was instrumental in the rolling out and development of the internet in Ireland. Fergal was CEO of the Irish Internet Association from 2005-2009. In 2015 he was inducted into the IIA Internet Hall of Fame in recognition for services to the internet industry. Fergal O’Byrne transformed a voluntary organisation into a viable, sustainable trade association, grew the membership and created a platform for the industry to have a voice. He was an early investor in Sonru and subsequent CEO. He serves on the board of the IEDR as well as having served on IGOpeope, WINC, giftsdirect.ie and CCD

Fergal has been writing for screen, stage and radio for many years. He has won awards for his stage plays; A Dragon’s Tale (Eamon keane Award 2013) and Folie-a-Deux (Runner up Listowel 2015). His TV shows Minefield and Clean Slate have both been shortlisted for BBC’s Scriptroom in 2014 and 2015, respectively. His short movie Glass Ceiling was also shortlisted for the PAGE International Screen awards 2014. He is co-writer of the webseries Hipsterverse (produced by Straywave Films -). He has also written four radio plays broadcast by RTE. Fergal is resident writer and producer with Wytao Films.
