Federação Anarquista Gaúcha

The Gaúcha Anarchist Federation (Portuguese: Federação Anarquista Gaúcha, or FAG) is an especifista anarchist political organization based in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, headquartered in Porto Alegre. It was formed on November 18, 1995 during a meeting of the Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (Spanish: Federación Anarquista Uruguaya, or FAU) in Montevideo. Since then it has spread to many of the cities of Rio Grande do Sul, but its work still centers on Porto Alegre. The FAG works with popular movements, especially from Restinga, one of the biggest quarters of Porto Alegre.

The FAG was fundamental in setting up the Forum of Organized Anarchism (Portuguese: Forum do Anarquismo Organizado, or FAO), an initiative which fostered the creation of organized anarchist groups throughout Brazil with the mid-term objective of establishing a national anarchist federation. The FAO has since 2011 been consolidated as the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (Portuguese: Coordenação Anarquista Brasileira, or CAB), as a further step towards the goal of a national federation. It also cooperates with the various anarchist organizations that participate in the Anarkismo.net project.
