  • – The first trains on the restored Welsh Highland Railway operate over the full length between Caernarfon and Porthmadog Harbour, Wales. The completion of this line's restoration makes the Welsh Highland Railway the longest heritage railway in the United Kingdom. Regular service over the fully restored line will begin in April.

  • – Construction begins on the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project, a rapid transit system for the city of Honolulu.
