Faton Gashi

Faton Gashi is an Albanian mafia leader from Kosovo, who operated in Europe during the 1990s. He is believed to have been an influential boss in the illegal drug trade in Europe. He has lived in the Czech Republic since 1991 and was arrested by police in 2003 in connection with the smuggling of some 250 kilograms of heroin from the Czech Republic to Italy. He has been sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. Two other men were involved in the trafficking, but one of them is dead and the other is reported missing. Gashi was earlier suspected of the murder of two Turkish businessmen, but the court cleared him of all charges on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
