Farai Tumbare comes from the high density suburb of Tafara in Harare, Zimbabwe, was a primary and high school captain and an excellent academic and sportsperson. He rose to basketball heights starting to play in the Premier Division when he was in form 3 and has a history of having won all major trophies in a decade of dominance and Captained both Mashonaland and Zimbabwe National Senior Men Basketball teams between the years 2003-2009.

Arguably one of the best basketball players in Zimbabwe history alongside Ronald Garura, Farai Makurumidze, Tafadzwa Mutengwa, Bright Chidimu at one time rising to become a ranked forward in Southern Africa. Academically he holds bachelor's and master's degrees.

He has played for Cameo Basketball winning all titles club and National Championships back to back 4 years in a row. He is famously called 'The Tombstone!'
