Faith Academy Senior Secondary School is a Christian minority senior secondary school located in Prasad Nagar, New Delhi, India. It is located near the Prasad Nagar Jheel. Faith Academy is a recognized, unaided, co-educational, Christian minority senior secondary school. It operates under the direction and control of the Christian Educational Society through the Managing Committee of Faith Academy.

The principal is Dr M.Kannan who is also a physics teacher. The school manager is Mr Robert. The school only employs Christian teachers while more than 90 percent of the students are from Hindu backgrounds.

No student has failed in the 10th boards for over 20 years. The school has a head boy and head girl and sports and house captains and many prefects.School is divided into two phases, phase one for senior students and phase two for junior students. The school has four headmistresses. The senior classes headmistress was Mrs. N. Paul, middle school headmistress is Mrs. Nita Mall, Primary headmistress is Mrs. Alice Samuel and Pre-primary headmistress is Mrs. Irene Singh. The school recently got a new vice principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Robert, who has now become the senior classes headmistress.

The school is adapting itself to modern technology by installing LCD screens in every class. There is an Audio Visual Room, School Library, Canteen, Medical Care, Bird Corner, Eden Kidz Zone.

In 2012 the school held Bi-annualits Athletic Meet. Medals were given for athletics and academics.

History

Faith Academy was established by seven Christians on January 15, 1963, in a residential building at 13/15 East Patel Nagar with twelve students and six teachers. The school grew but remained in seven residential buildings. The school moved to its rent school building in December.

Senior Physics Laboratory

The laboratory is equipped with the apparatus needed for students in classes 1- 12. They do experiments for their projects in class and to participate in Fair. Large work for both practicals and demonstrations. Theatre room facilities are available in Physics Lab . There is a mini library having good books collection.

Senior Chemistry Laboratory

The laboratory is equipped with the apparatus and chemicals needed for students like for students from classes 1-12.

Geography Laboratory

The Geography laboratory is situated on the third floor in Phase 1. This lab contains maps required for reference. It also contains Geomorphological Models needed for understanding the subject. It contains all the instruments required for class 6 – 12 practical.

Computer Laboratory

Faith Academy has many computer laboratories providing computer education for all classes. Computer education based on Multimedia from class VI to Class X. Computer Science is offered as elective subject for Science streams at Senior Secondary level.

Home Science Laboratory

In the lab extra curricular activities like drawing, painting and cooking and making cakes are done. Art and craft materials are displayed.

School seal

The seal of Faith Academy contains the school name. The school motto is in a circle surrounding the emblem. The motto “The Truth will make you Free.” “Truth” is a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ, the founder and corner stone of Faith Academy. Jesus said, “I am the Truth” (John 14:16).

  • The central figure of the seal is a shield – a symbol of faith. (Ephesians 6:16) The shield is an instrument of defence. My faith in Jesus Christ protects me from Satan’s fiery darts.
  • The helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17) rests upon the shield of faith. By God’s grace we are saved through faith. (Ephesians 2:8)
  • The four stars represent God’s view of a wise believer, (Daniel 12:3). They also represent Faith Academy’s four houses- Justice, Loyalty, Patience and Truth.
  • The open Bible is an open book for all to read. Its central person is the Lord Jesus Christ. Its central theme is salvation by grace through faith in Christ’s death and resurrection.
  • The burning torch means believers in Jesus are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14) – We are to shine in the world for Jesus Christ.
  • The Cross Jesus Christ says if any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. (Luke 9:23).
  • Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. (Revelation 2 : 10).
  • The palm branches are a sign of victory. We shall wave the palm of victory, when we reign with Christ. (Revelation 7:9).
  • Anand Vatika

    In 2008 the Christian Educational Society began a new venture for the economically weaker students of Classes I to III in Faith Academy. Anand Vatika provides extra coaching to 123 students after school hours from Monday to Friday. Six tutors teach them in school from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Faith Academy management, staff, parents, friends and alumni contribute towards the Anand Vatika Fund. There is also an “Anand Vatika Scholarship” to a boy and a girl from Classes I, II & III who excel in the annual examination in April. The child must secure 70% and above in their Annual Assessment in March 2009.

    Faith Child Development Centre

    Faith Child Development Centre is an after 2:00 p.m. project for students from the government schools.

    Faith Child Development Centre was born on in 2009. It now has 124 students and 7 teachers plus a coordinator, tutoring students of Class I to V.

    The project aims at:

  • Giving access to education,
  • giving a hot nutritious meal five days a week,
  • giving fluency in English and Hindi.
  • Fun trips/picnics/projects/workshops.
  • Mahila Pragati Kendra

    Faith Mahila Pragati Kendra teach mothers and grand mothers of students at Anand Vatika and FCDC. The adults mothers expressed a desire to learn Hindi and English so that they would be able to help their children with their school work. They want to learn other skills too. The project comprises:

  • Adult literacy
  • Making of paper and synthetic carry bags, pickle making
  • Sewing and embroidery.
  • Sessions regarding health and hygiene caring for children, and family values.
  • The aim of this project is to enable each woman to have self-esteem, value herself like God values her, to have confidence that with God’s help she can be a blessing to her family and the society in general.

    Social Work and Counselling

    The Social Work and Counselling Department of Faith Academy works for the emotional well being of the students. The team consists of a full-time Counsellor and a Social Worker cum Counsellor. Many students are referred by their teachers for counselling and follow up is also done. Parents often approach the counselors and seek advice on how to handle their growing children, especially teenagers. In some cases, children come and share the problems that they are facing with other students or even their parents and teachers. In all cases, an intake interview is conducted to gather the details. The parents are also counselled as problems of children may have roots in circumstances at home.

    Career counselling is another area of work. Another initiative of the department is the identification and referral of children with learning disabilities.

    Little Flock

    In 2013 the school started a kindergarten named Little Flock.
