Kariobangi Sharks FC was founded in the Nairobi Suburb of Kariobangi in the year 2000 by Nicholas Mwendwa(Nick) the current President of Football Kenya Federation, Frederick Ochieng(Freddy) Crispinus Ouma Pamba(Oush) Justus Muhongi(Koka) and Daniel Muli Kawinzi(Dan). It started in the lower cadres of the Nairobi league. In that year the lowest league was the Division II and that was the starting point. Through that decade, the club was promoted step by step to higher leagues with great success and with minimal financial resources. At some point the players and officials outsourced funds from wellwishers and garbbage collection to honour away matches.

The club prides itself in growing youngsters and sticking to a passing mentality of educating young players by working hard over a long period of time and did not mind results so long as the players played and enjoyed the game.
