Extrema ratio

Extrema ratio is a Latin expression whose literal meaning is "extreme solution", "last possibility".

In the Italian language it has taken on, in addition to the original meaning of "last possible course of action" even the more specific, the "last possible solution", or the solution fall back on when any possible remedies of a given problem have already been tried unsuccessfully.
