Plot

After the death of her husband and losing her son Ethan, Molly Woods battles internal and external struggles to pick the pieces of her life back up and start fresh, this time working with the very people who betrayed her.

Main

  • Halle Berry as Molly Woods, an ISEA astronaut and scientist who mysteriously becomes pregnant after seeing her dead former lover while on the Seraphim space station. Molly deals with the loss of her husband and the taking of her son as well as attempting to protect the hybrids from the GSC.
  • Pierce Gagnon as Ethan Woods, Molly and John's son, a humanoid robot and the prototype for the Humanichs Project. Ethan bonds with his sister Lucy, leading to a mutual distrust towards humans.
  • Grace Gummer as Julie Gelineau, John Woods' assistant on the Humanichs Project and former lover. Julie takes charge of the Humanichs Project this season as she is greeted with the opportunity to create war machine Humanichs. Ethan is also left in the care of Julie after Molly is put into psychosis therapy.
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan as James Daniel "JD" Richter, a cop working special patrol (bounty hunting) who teams up with Molly.
  • Goran Visnjic as Dr. John Woods, Molly's late husband, whose death early in the season is clouded in mystery. John was the creator and leader of the Humanichs project until his death, where his ex-lover, Julie assumed his position.
  • David Morrissey as General Tobias Shepherd, Head of the Global Security Commission. Shepherd has a personal history with Molly Woods, a fact that complicates his work (and his life) in the face of a deadly new threat to humanity.
  • Kiersey Clemons as Lucy, a more advanced Humanich and Ethan's new sister, created as a government combat machine. Lucy's combative skills also allow her to become quite manipulative towards Julie, Charlie (in a romantic way), and Ethan (in an anti-human way).
  • Necar Zadegan as Shayna Velez, a former Lt. Colonel, now Chief of Staff to Tobias Shepherd. Strong, smart, opinionated, her agenda doesn’t always jibe with her boss’s — which may bring her into direct conflict with Molly Woods.
  • Recurring

  • Tyler Hilton as Charlie Arthurs, the Chief Coder on the Humanichs Project alongside Julie.
  • Hilarie Burton as Anna Schaefer, a government operative charged with overseeing the militarization of the Humanichs program.
  • Henderson Wade as Adhu, the adult "Offspring" whose name is self-christened
  • Shannon Merrill Brown as the child "Offspring".
  • Brody Nicholas Lee as the teenage "Offspring".
  • Lyndon Smith as Kelsey Richter; JD’s estranged and rebellious daughter.
  • Melina Kanakaredes as Dorothy Richter, JD's ex-wife and mother of Kelsey who is at first against J.D. and Molly's choice to protect the hybrids
  • McKenna Roberts as Terra, Adhu's child whom Molly takes a liking towards
  • Patrick Johnson as Lucas, the third Humanich created to be a combat partner with Lucy
  • Kate Burton as Fiona Stanton, the president of GSC who oversees the progress of Lucy and the Humanichs.
  • Michael Gladis as Nate Malone; a GSC biologist who works with Molly to crack the genetic code of the hybrids.
  • Lynnanne Zager as the voice of G.I.N.A., the Woods family personal home A.I. system and helper.
