The 2009 European Parliament election in Spain was held on Sunday, 7 June 2009, to elect the country's 6th MEP delegation to the European Parliament. All 50 seats allocated to Spain as per the Treaty of Nice were up for election, a decrease of four compared to the previous election. This came as a result of the 2007 enlargement of the European Union awarding the extra four seats to Romania and Bulgaria. Eventually, after the Treaty of Lisbon came into force on 1 December 2011, Spain's delegation in the European Parliament grew back to 54.
