The European Lift Association (ELA) is a trade association based in Belgium that represents the lifts, escalators and moving walks associations of the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Area (EFTA).
In 2004, the offices of the association were raided by European Community anti-trust investigators who were investigating that several elevator manufacturers had conspired to restrict competition. The offices of the manufacturing companies were also raided.
In 2006, the association organized an international conference on Fire and Risk Management, which discussed the lessons learned from the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings in the September 11 attacks.
