Espektro is the annual techno-management and cultural festival of Kalyani Government Engineering College, held in March.

Inception and Growth

The first edition of Espektro was held in 2006. It was conceived as a platform for the students of KGEC to showcase their extra ordinary academic skills as well as their technical skills. Over the years, it began to attract participants from the neighboring colleges of West Bengal. The fiesta is usually held in the month of March. It is the premier festival in the region and the technical extravaganza goes leaps and bounds over years.

Activities

During the fest, students from Kalyani Government Engineering College and from different colleges participate in social and cultural activities as well as technical activities. The scope of the events genres like Dance, Music, Photography, Literature, Quizzing, Fine arts and Robotics. The Kalyani Government Engineering College Entrepreneurship Cell contributes in convening the management events during the fest. The fest sees a footfall of a large crowd of about 10,000 people.

Tremendous participation and aggressive competition are seen in all the events, especially the flagship events of Espektro, namely - Battle of Bands, Pratibimb, Director's Cut, Robotics events, Beat Maniac, Dabbler, Paint-T, Mad-Ad,La-Moda (Fashion Show) etc. The whole atmosphere turns festive and the creative during the events.

Star Nights

The evenings are notable for the "Star Nights", the biggest events in Espektro which usually involve live concerts by notable musicians or bands. All the Star Nights are free to attend for any student of the institute and all registered participants. The genres of music are wide and varied and involve pop, rock and fusion bands. The venue for these events is the KGEC ground. Artists who have performed there include Armaan Malik , Shilpa Rao, Mir, Somlata Acharya etc. have performed there, while bands who have performed there include Spunk(India), Underground Authority, Kalpurush, Sadho and Fossils etc.
